Assessed value vs. real market value

Why your tax statement matters

Assessed Value (AV)

This is the value used to calculate your property taxes. It appears on your Marion County property tax statement and is usually lower than market value.

Real Market Value (RMV)

This is what your home might sell for. It is not used to calculate this levy.

Simple formula

Find your AV, divide by 1,000, then multiply by 0.985 to estimate your yearly levy amount.

Why is the rate higher?

The current levy was set years ago. Since then:

  • Costs to operate the pool have increased
  • Park maintenance costs have increased
  • Staffing, utilities, and repairs cost more

This updated levy helps continue current services, not expand them.

Why it is needed

Without this levy, the cuts get real.

For years, the Parks & Pool Levy has helped fund the maintenance of Stayton’s parks and operation of the Stayton Family Memorial Pool.

The current levy expires in 2026. Without renewal, the City would lose that funding.

If the levy is not renewed

Funding that currently supports parks and the community pool will expire. Possible impacts include:

  • Pool closure risk
  • Reduced park upkeep
  • Planned improvements canceled
  • Potential park closures
If the levy passes
  • Parks and pool operations continue
  • Maintenance and upkeep supported
  • Public access protected
  • Future improvements can move forward
Investing in Our Community

Renewing the levy that keeps Stayton’s parks maintained and the community pool open.

What would the levy fund?

Continued operations for Stayton's parks and the Stayton Family Memorial Pool, including staffing, maintenance, utilities, supplies, and facility upkeep.

Is this a new tax?

No. This measure replaces the existing Parks & Pool Levy that expires in 2026.

Without voter approval, the current levy funding will end.

Why is the rate higher?

Costs to operate parks and the pool have increased over time.

The updated rate helps ensure the City can continue providing park maintenance, recreation programs, and pool operations for the community.
